Acclaim Technical Training School Scholarship Program for High School
Students
AIT Acclaim is here to meet
your technology certification training needs. We understand that
some high school students may not be able to attend a four year degree
program, but need the technical certifications to create job opportunities
for themselves quickly after high school. Our field-experienced instructors
and technical advisors will guide and provide you with a hands-on approach
to learning that will give students the skills they need to get a career
in the technology field.
The Selection Process
The AIT Acclaim Scholarship Program looks for exceptional students attending high school in Cumberland County who wish to inspire others in the 21st century through technological advances. Our scholarships are designed to encourage students to pursue studies in computer science or other related technical certifications.
The selection process begins when a student submits an application, including a transcript or copy of current report card, a list of extracurricular activities, an essay and two letters of recommendation. Each application is carefully considered and evaluated according to the following criteria: academic promise, financial need, and community involvement. Each file is initially evaluated by two different readers, enabling the Chief Executive Officer of AIT Inc. to identify the most deserving applicants. Those selected may be awarded from $500 up to $1000 towards an AIT Acclaim Technology program certification of their choice.
A complete application includes five items: a cover letter, most current report
card, answers to an essay question, and two letters of referral. There is
not a separate application form to submit in addition to the above materials.
Your name should be included on each page of your application packet.
Cover Letter
The cover letter for your application should include: your name, address, phone number, name of the high school you are attending, and the year you graduate. Your cover letter should also include a brief description of why you would like to attend a technology training class.
Résumé
Enclose a copy of your resume. Be sure that it includes your e-mail address, school address (if applicable) and phone number, student ID number ( if applicable), permanent address and phone number, current computer or technology experience, current job experience (if applicable), and expected graduation date or certification completion date.
Transcript
Enclose a copy of your current report card or transcript.
Essay Questions
Use one page to answer one of the four of the following essay questions
in total (not one page per question).
- Describe how you demonstrate your passion for technology outside the
classroom.
- Describe the toughest technical problem you've worked on, how you addressed
the problem, your role in reaching the outcome if it was team based, and
the final outcome.
- Describe a situation that demonstrates initiative and your willingness
to go above and beyond.
- Describe how you would use this technology training to start a career.
Letter of Referral
Enclose a letter of referral from a teacher, counselor, principal, employer, pastor, community service leader, or other personal reference. Two different types of referrals are preferred.
